A comfort system is really four systems working together. When one of them slips, everything downstream of it stops working the way it should.

Your HVAC system has an outdoor unit that rejects heat, an indoor air handler that moves air across a coil, a duct system that distributes it, and a set of controls that tells all of it what to do. A failure in any one of those four shows up as the same complaint at the thermostat, which is why real repair work starts with figuring out which layer actually broke before anything gets replaced.

What lands here is everything else, the blower that will not spin up, the ductwork that leaks conditioned air into a hot attic, the control board that lost a relay, the thermostat wire chewed through in a crawl space.
The way we work is repair first. Component level failures are usually component level fixes, and a working system with a new blower motor is a far better outcome for you than a financed replacement you did not need. If the equipment genuinely is past saving, we will lay out why in plain terms and let you decide without a countdown clock attached.
Things Worth Getting Looked At
- Some rooms never reach the thermostat setting while others overshoot it
- The blower runs constantly or short cycles on and off every few minutes

- The thermostat screen has gone blank or resets itself for no reason
- A musty smell rolls out of the supply vents when the system first kicks on
- Rattling, whistling, or a rhythmic squeal you can hear from the air handler closet

Where Systems Actually Fail
Blower assemblies do the most work in this climate. Because Florida systems run nearly year round, that motor and wheel accumulate more running hours than the same equipment would anywhere north of here. Bearings wear, the blower wheel loads up with dust and loses its ability to move air, and the motor draws more current trying to compensate. That extra draw is what eventually takes out the motor or the board driving it.
Ductwork is the quiet problem nobody sees. Plenty of homes here have flex duct running through an unconditioned attic, and attic temperatures in summer are brutal. Disconnected runs, crushed sections behind stored boxes, and failed mastic at the boots let conditioned air escape into a space that is already 130 degrees. The equipment can be perfect and the house still will not cool, because the air is not arriving where it was supposed to.
Controls fail differently. Thermostat wiring gets nicked during other work, control boards lose a single relay while everything else on them still functions, and low voltage transformers give out. These are cheap parts attached to expensive equipment, and they are the ones most often misdiagnosed as a dead system by whoever gets there first.

Our Repair Sequence
- Start with what you noticed
You know your house. When the problem started, whether it comes and goes, and what changed recently narrows things down faster than any meter.
- Check the controls first
Thermostat, low voltage power, and the board get verified before anything expensive gets suspected. A surprising share of dead systems are a failed transformer.
- Measure the air side
Temperature split across the coil and airflow at the registers tell us whether the equipment is producing and whether the duct system is delivering.
- Verify the refrigerant side
Pressures and temperatures get read against the conditions that day, not against a number from memory, so a charge problem does not get confused with an airflow problem.
- Repair, then confirm
We fix the fault, run the system through a full cycle, and re-measure. A repair that has not been verified running is not a finished repair.

How is this different from your AC repair page?
AC repair deals with the cooling side specifically, the outdoor unit, refrigerant, and the problems that come with running a compressor nearly year round on the Gulf Coast. This page covers the whole system including heating, the air handler, ductwork and controls. If you are not sure which you need, just call and describe what the house is doing.
Do you repair systems you did not install?
Yes, and most of what we work on came from somebody else. We service the common residential brands and can get parts for nearly all of them.
My system is old. Should I just replace it?
Not automatically. Age alone does not mean a system is finished, and a repair that buys you several more seasons is often the smarter money. We will tell you what the fault is, what it takes to fix, and what condition the rest of the equipment is in, then leave the decision with you.
Why do some rooms stay hot no matter what I set?
That is usually an air distribution problem rather than an equipment problem. Leaking or disconnected duct runs, blocked returns, or a system that was never balanced right will all do it. We measure airflow at the registers to find out which.
Can a repair be done in one visit?
Common failure parts ride on the truck, so most repairs finish the same day. Anything requiring a specialty part or a warranty replacement takes an order, and we will tell you upfront how long that runs.
Do you handle both the heating and cooling side?
Yes. One license holder covers the mechanical work regardless of which mode is failing, and in this climate a lot of homes run a heat pump that does both jobs through the same equipment anyway.
